Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout Wins Gold

Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout was awarded Gold in it's category at the 2009 CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester, so it is now officially the best stout in Britain!
"This champion ale is a beautifully creamy, full bodied Stout, the likes of which were brewed nearly a century ago on the very site of the Bristol Beer Factory today. Invigorating & Stimulating for all workers (or so they just to say!). Brewed within the City of Bristol from local raw materials. Does not contain milk."
This is the description that the Bristol Beer Factory give to their Milk Stout and it seems pretty accurate. It tells us that the beer has plenty of local history, doesn't contain milk (honestly, milk stouts don't actually have milk in them!) and is a champion. Of course winning a major award from CAMRA is nothing new for this beer as it has previously been voted "Beer of the Festival" at both the 2006 and 2007 CAMRA Bristol Beer Festivals.
Upon hearing the news Simon Bartlett (Bristol Beer Factory Production Director) said, "I knew it was good but I didn't know it was that bloody good. This is beyond our wildest dreams. We've always been very pleased with our Milk Stout & proud of all the awards its won in the past but to become National Champion in only our 4th year is just fantastic. This is an amazing boost for the brewery & with a bit of good PR we should raise the awareness of the fantastic ales being produced in Bristol."
